    Hurd, Herklotz pace Class 4A all-state honors

  • Hidden Valley senior pitcher Greg Hurd and North Valley senior first baseman Jake Herklotz paved the way for the local Class 4A players on the all-state baseball list released recently, with each earning first-team acclaim.

  • Hidden Valley senior pitcher Greg Hurd and North Valley senior first baseman Jake Herklotz paved the way for the local Class 4A players on the all-state baseball list released recently, with each earning first-team acclaim.
    Klamath Union senior Kody Kuhlman joined Hurd and Herklotz on the first team.
    The all-state second team included Klamath Union junior Joe Whisler (catcher), Mazama senior Beau Howard (first base), North Valley junior Marco Carmendia (infielder) and Hidden Valley juniors Jaime Schmidt (outfielder) and Tyler Gulbransen (utility).
    Third-team honors went to Hidden Valley senior infielder Kyle Garrison. On the honorable mention list were North Valley junior pitcher Steven Parker, Mazama junior outfielder Dylan Smith and Klamath Union senior outfielder Chris McGahan.
    Astoria senior pitcher Conor Harber was named the 4A player of the year, while coach of the year honors went to Philomath's Levi Webber.
