Betty and Edward Shelley of Ashland will celebrate their 60th anniversary June 28, 2012. Betty Brooks married Edward Shelley June 28, 1952, in Gresham.
The Shelleys have two children, Suzanne Shelley of Portland and David Shelley of San Jose, Calif.; and three grandsons.
Betty and Edward have known each other since grade school. After dating their senior year of high school, the two were married following graduation.
As an officer in the Army, Edward was stationed in Germany where the couple lived for a year.
On the GI Bill, Edward attended Portland State University and went on to graduate from Oregon State University.
He completed his doctorate work at Stanford while working at Lockheed Corp. He spent his entire career as a physicist. Betty spent her career in banking.
The couple retired in Ashland and have traveled extensively They are active in their community, volunteering at Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Tudor Guild and at ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum.
