SEIU Local 503 gives 48 awards and scholarships worth $25,000 this year

SEIU Local 503 awarded 48 scholarships and awards totaling $25,000 this year through a member scholarship program. The scholarship program is funded through member dues and donations.

Barbara Byerson, an interior design major at Southern Oregon University, was awarded a $750 scholarship. Ana Marcu, a performing arts/music major at Syracuse University, Amanda Wolf, a photography/journalism major at Southern Oregon University, Monique Woods, who will be attending Portland State University, and Taylor Olson-Hill, a psychology/law major at Oregon State University, all received $500 scholarship awards.

Winners must be undergraduates and must be under the age of 24 at the time of their nomination. The scholarships are available to SEIU members and their spouses, qualifying domestic partners, sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters.

Applicants must demonstrate satisfactory scholastic ability and special consideration is given to SEIU Local 503 members who are public employees or who have been laid off from public employment.
