Sinead Pyle, who will enter seventh grade at Ashland Middle School in the fall, joined more than 250 other students from across the United States in a youth leadership conference in Washington, D.C. from July 21-26.
The theme of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference was "Voices of Leadership: Reflecting on the Past to Create the Future." It introduces young people to the tradition of leadership throughout American history, while helping them develop their own leadership skills.
During the six-day program, students took part in educational activities and presentations, and explored relevant sites, such as Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.'s museums and memorials.
