WHITE CITY — Mark Wauge and Matt Duste waged a tight race through 17 laps before Wauge gained the advantage and ultimately pulled away to capture his fifth main event victory in the modified division Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway.
Duste and Wauge raced side by side through the first few laps until Duste was able to go ahead by a car length in the 15th lap of the 25-lap feature event. On lap 17, however, Wauge was able to maneuver his car around Duste and then continued to expand on his lead to six car lengths to win going away.
In their respective main events, Josh King (dwarf cars), Jay Poppa (pro stocks), Toby Judd (mini stocks) and Jorddon Braaten (street stocks) also were victorious on Saturday.
Racing resumes next Saturday when the Interstate Sprint Car Series again comes to the speedway, with over 20 360 cubic inch winged sprint cars expected to compete. Also on the program will be racing from dwarf cars, mini stocks and street stocks.
General admission is $10 for adults, $7 for kids, seniors and vets and children 5-and-under are admitted free of charge.
