Jamie Walls was driving east in a 1994 Honda Civic on Pioneer Road just before midnight when she lost control for an unknown reason, swerved off the road and went through a fence. The car came to rest on its roof in a canal maintained by the Talent Irrigation District.
The car's passengers, Andrew Gilman, 21 and Kendal Wheeler, 24, both of Ashland, were transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center for injuries. Both are listed in fair condition as of this morning.
Gilman was cited by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for methamphetamine possession. Whether drugs or alcohol were an additional factor in the crash is still under investigation, as is the vehicle's estimated speed, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said.
