  • Gene and Lollie Snook of Central Point celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a luncheon hosted by their children on Aug. 19, 2012.
    Gene Snook married Lollie Jewett on Aug. 16, 1952. They have two children, Gary Snook (wife Joann) and Janet Lunte (husband Paul), and five grandchildren.
    Gene and Lollie have a long history in the Rogue Valley. Lollie was born and raised in Central Point. Gene was born in Chiloquin, then moved to Prospect in his younger years before coming to Central Point his freshman year of high school. Lollie and Gene met at Central Point High School.
    Gene worked at Boise Cascade, originally Elk Lumber Co., for 44 years before retiring. Lollie worked at Scenic Middle School for 17 years.
    Gene and Lollie have spent their retirement years traveling. They particularly enjoy Alaska and Yellowstone Park. They also enjoy taking monthly trips to Reno, Nev.
