Tami Marston, who's appearing in Camelot Theatre's "Woody Guthrie's American Song," will present and lead the congregation in singing inspiring songs from the labor movement at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. The service will examine the move toward treating people as "human resources" and consider how to expand an appreciation of people and their varied labors.
The fellowship will host a free Introduction to Hebrew Scriptures, led by Herbert Rothschild Jr., at 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 11 at the Emerson House, adjacent to the center.
Rothschild is chairman of the Peace House board and retired professor of English at Louisiana State University and the University of Houston. He is the author of "Profoundly Entertaining: An Introduction to Shakespeare's Artistry."

Grants Pass author Peter Love will hold a book signing for "A Blessing in Disguise," about his personal odyssey of living in Iran during the time of the Shah, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Evangel Family Bookstore in the Rogue Valley Mall. Old Testament scholar Bruce Waltke will be the guest speaker for the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Sept. 9, at Cornerstone Christian Church, 608 N. Bartlett St., Medford. He will preach on Psalm 44.
Waltke holds doctorates from Dallas Theological Seminary and Harvard University and is internationally known for his work in the Old Testament.
