James and Margaret Olson of Medford will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children on the Oregon Coast with 18 family members.

James Olson married Margaret Roschker on Aug. 31, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge, S.D. They were high school sweethearts in Mobridge, and they have three children: Jeff Olson of San Jose, Calif., Julie Winningham of Medford and Jack Olson of Wickenburg, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

James served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War for three years while Margaret worked as a bank teller. After the war, he went to Colorado State University to become an electrical engineer.

James worked for Motorola in Scottsdale, Ariz., for two years, then Philco in Palo Alto, Calif., which became Ford Aerospace and then became Loral Aerospace, for 36 years. They lived in Cupertino, Calif.

They moved to Oregon in 1995. They have spent their retirement years in their motor home and enjoying their family.
