The Oregon Department of Forestry is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person who caused the Slate Creek Fire, which started Sept. 3 and burned 160 acres.
The fire ignited around 1:30 p.m. on Labor Day in a densely wooded area southwest of Waters Creek Road, 10 miles southwest of Grants Pass and west of Highway 199 near the community of Wonder. Specifically, the fire started along a road called the Root Springs Access Road, officials said.
Investigators are looking for details about the cause of the fire. They ask anyone who saw a person or vehicle in the Root Springs Access Road area to call 800-452-7888. Information is confidential.
