Ron and Carole (Benner) Holzkamp celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in mid-July with a family dinner hosted by their children at Sunriver Lodge.
The couple met in Salem and were married there at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Aug. 24, 1962. Their first home was in Corvallis, where Ron completed his accounting studies at Oregon State University. During that time, Carole was employed by the Benton County Welfare Department as a secretary and stenographer.
After graduating in 1964, Ron began his accounting career in Astoria with Yergen & Meyer, CPAs. He served in the U.S. Army's 45th Finance Corps from 1965 to 1968, and was stationed in Kaiserslautern and Pirmasens, West Germany. After military duty, they returned to Astoria for another five years until their move to Medford in 1973, where Ron continued his CPA career as a partner with the Yergen & Meyer CPA group. That firm was merged with Moss Adams in 1999. Ron retired from the partnership in 2006.
They have three daughters: Susan Krigbaum (Mark) of Oregon City, Karen Mettler (Dave) of Portland and Linda Senatra (Brad), also of Portland, and nine grandchildren.
Ron and Carole have been active members of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1973; Carole is active in the women's organization and sings in the choir. Ron enjoys golf and especially motorcycle rides with his friends.
Together, Ron and Carole greatly enjoy regional trips in their motor home with their little beagle, Sadie.
