A car apparently crashed into the back of a school bus in one of the northbound lanes of South Pacific Highway in Phoenix just before 3 p.m. today.

The crash occurred at 4880 S. Pacific Highway, across from the Farmers Market.

A small blue car sustained heavy front-end damage and the driver was taken away in an ambulance, according to witnesses on scene. The bus did not appear damaged, a witness said.

The students, from Phoenix-Talent School District, appeared unhurt and were escorted onto another bus that continued on its rounds.

Oregon State Police responded. The right-hand northbound lane is closed while crews continue their investigation.
