  • February 3, 1916 - October 1, 2012
Toni was born and raised in Williams, Ore., to John Henry Kincaid and Ada Bertha (Coggshall) Kincaid. She graduated from high school in 1934, and moved to Longview, Wash. There she met Floyd Vaughn and they married in 1935. They moved back to Oregon and settled in Kerby, Ore., in 1945. They had three children, Robert, Ruby, and Linda. They raised their children in a house that Floyd had built in Kerby. Toni enjoyed being a wife and mother. Family was her first priority, always putting her children's needs before her own. She is predeceased by Floyd (1969); and two of her children, Robert (1999) and Ruby (2011). Daughter, Linda Bennett (Jim) survives.
In 1972, she married Clinton Hayden. They lived many years in Rogue River, Ore. She had four stepdaughters in that marriage. Shirley Clementson, the youngest, lived with them when she was 16, until she graduated from high school. Clint and Toni were retired most of their married life so they had time to do some traveling, but their favorite things were fishing the ocean and hunting deer and elk. When Clint passed away in 2005, Toni moved to Medford to be closer to her two daughters and their families.
Toni enjoyed her grandchildren beyond measure and they all adored her. She made each one feel special. They were all close to their Grandma Toni and loved spending time with her. Toni had eight brothers and sisters, Robert, Johnny, Doc, Fred, Mabel Peckham, Bessie Rose, Vivian Ward, and Estella Roberts. Vivian, of Redding, and Estella, of Grants Pass, survive.
Toni worked at Rogue Valley Medical Center from 1966 through 1974. One of Toni's hobbies was planting flowers and a garden. Her favorite flower was the African Violet. She loved taking trips with her daughters. Later in life when she couldn't travel very far, they would take trips to Seven Feathers and spend the night. She was always so much fun to be with and game for anything.
She has gone to a better place, but will be missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Conger-Morris in Central Point with reception to follow at Brookside Inn and Suites. She will be buried at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction, Ore.
