  • An structure fire reported just after midnight today burned through an Eagle Point home and scorched one-quarter acre of nearby wildlands.
Brian Ballou, fire prevention specialist with the Oregon Department of Forestry, said crews from ODF, Butte Falls Fire Department and Jackson County Fire District No. 4 responded to the home on 1991 Crowfoot Road with four engines and about 15 firefighters after a 12:15 a.m. 911 call.
Crews arrived on scene to see the house fully involved. They were able to contain the fire's spread to nearby wildlands.
"It's in an unprotected area," Ballou said.
It's not yet known how many people were in the house, or how the fire started. Officials said they believe the blaze started inside the home.
Fire investigators are still on scene.
