Marie Armstrong-Lathrop

Marie Sexton Armstrong-Lathrop, 95, passed away September 28, 2012.

 

Marie was born in Wayland, Ky. in 1916. She lived many years in Tarzana, Calif., before moving to Oregon in 1963 with her husband, Laymon Armstrong and daughter, Connie. In 1995, Laymon passed away after 55 years of marriage.

 

Marie and Ernest Lathrop were married in August 1998, celebrating their 14th anniversary in August 2012.


Marie was a charter member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Tarzana, Calif., and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1963. She served the church in many capacities, including as a Deacon.


Marie was known for her love of people, dancing, entertaining, and her beautiful garden where flowers were always blooming. Her welcoming smile, laugh, and loving presence will be missed.


Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Ernie Lathrop; daughter, Connie Horn; grandsons, Alexander and Andrew Horn; nieces, nephews, the Lathrop family, and many friends.


A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. All friends are welcome.
