Nearly 40 local and regional, professional and amateur street painters, including students from area schools, will participate in the 10th annual Art Along the Rogue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, on H Street in downtown Grants Pass.
This year's featured artist, internationally acclaimed Los Angeles street painter Melanie Stimmell Van Latum, will create a large, 3-D “Angry Birds” illustration on the side of Hannah's Restaurant & Historic Steam Laundry at the corner of Fifth and H streets in Grants Pass. For $5, children and adults can purchase 2-by-2 foot squares of pavement and pastels to create their own street art.
Live music will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The Taylor Rose Band, The Seaons, Rogue Valley Sauerkrauts and the Alice DiMicele Band will perform Saturday, and Generation Jones, Duo Flamenco, The Illies and LOVEBITE perform Sunday.
In conjunction with Art Along the Rogue, tastings of Northwest microbrews and small bites will be available from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 17 locations in downtown Grants Pass. Tickets to the tap walk cost $30, include a commemorative pint beer glass and are available at Elegance, 321 Southeast Sixth St., Grants Pass, or by calling 541-476-0570.
The annual Doggy Art Walk, featuring dogs “artistically” dressed and paraded down H Street, will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Prizes will be awarded to the most artistic canine.
