A grass fire that broke out near Highway 238 along the railroad tracks this morning grew to a quarter acre before fire crews extinguished it.
The fire was reported at 10:25 a.m. and knocked down by about 10:30 a.m. The fire drew one engine from the department. No one was hurt during extinguishing efforts. The fire left a large black scorch mark in the weeds, visible from the nearby overpass.
The fire's cause is still under investigation. There is a transient camp nearby, but it's not confirmed if a camp resident started the blaze, fire officials said.
