Hedgpeth, Lass lead Prospect to volleyball wins

PROSPECT — Miranda Hedgpeth was a defensive stalwart and senior Heather Lass provided accurate setting as Prospect posted straight-set volleyball victories against Paisley and Camas Valley Friday.

The Cougars (15-3, 11-1 MVL) downed Paisley in a Mountain Valley League match, 25-12, 25-16, 25-16, then took a nonleague match against Camas Valley, 25-16, 26-24, 25-20.

Miranda Hedgpeth combined for 33 digs on the day, while Lass dished out 20 assists against the Broncos and 37 in the nightcap.

In the opener, junior middle Taylor Bernhardt pounded 10 kills against Paisley. Alee Pinkerton was effective from the service line with 20 points, including seven aces.

Bernhardt and junior Halee Hedgpeth provided strong net play against Camas Valley with 15 kills each.

HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 3, BUTTE FALLS 0 — At Butte Falls, Butte Falls had trouble keeping up with Hosanna Christian, which wrapped up a 25-12, 25-17, 25-10 triumph.

Tamika Funk registered eight kills and 10 digs for the Loggers (1-12, 1-10 Mountain Valley League) and fellow outside hitter Brandi O'Keefe added four kills and nine digs.

The Loggers' Joli Hobbs chipped in nine digs, nine assists, five aces and a pair of digs.


Girls Soccer

NORTH VALLEY 4, HENLEY 0 — At Klamath Falls, twins Kerissa and Vanessa D'Arpino scored two goals each for North Valley in the Skyline match.

Knights center backs Rochele Banta and Autum Diaz stifled the Hornets' (2-8, 2-4 Sky) attack, holding them to just five shots on goal compared to 17 shots on goal for the North Valley (6-3-1, 3-3).

MAZAMA 2, HIDDEN VALLEY 0 — At Klamath Falls, Mazama remained unbeaten in the Skyline, improving to 9-0-1 overall and 6-0 in league play.

Kylie Durant and Tiffany Taylor scored for the Vikings.

Goalkeeper Morgan Hansen and midfielder Rachel Clark played well for Hidden Valley (6-4, 3-3).
