Laura Kelsey Meredith successfully defended her doctoral thesis Oct. 4 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences.

Titled "Field Measurement of the Fate of Atmospheric Hydrogen in a Forest Environment: From Canopy to Soil," her study in Harvard Forest measured hydrogen fluxes over a one-year period and studied mechanisms controlling rates of soil uptake of hydrogen.

Meredith graduated from Phoenix High School in 2000 and from Cal Poly University San Luis Obispo in 2004. She plans to continue her post-doctoral work at MIT through early 2013.

GALESBURG, Ill. — Brianna R. Collishaw of Medford has been named to the Dean's List at Knox College for the 2012 spring term. Collishaw is a senior, majoring in educational studies.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade-point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
