OGDEN, Utah — The Southern Oregon Spartans hockey team proved to be too overwhelming from the beginning for the Ogden Mustangs on Sunday.

The Spartans (4-3) claimed a 7-2 victory, scoring five goals in the opening period.

Joe Bordak notched two goals and Tim Talty scored one and dished out three first-period assists for the Spartans.

Spartans goalie Sean Buckley recorded 48 saves on 50 shots.
