  • CAVE JUNCTION — Rachel Raniele had a field day on corner kicks and Emily Van Valkenburg scored her first varsity goal to pace St. Mary's in an 8-0 win over Illinois Valley in District 4 play on Saturday.
    Between the 38th and 58th minutes, the Crusaders (8-2-3, 6-0 Dist. 4) scored three goals off Raniele corner kicks, including one she bent in herself. The other two were tallied by Emily Alvarez and Amber Moore. Raniele also assisted on a goal by Marybeth Barnum to open scoring in the 10th minute.
    Barnum had a second tally from 35 yards out in the 35th minute, helping produce a 4-0 halftime score.
    Van Valkenburg, a senior forward, scored her first varsity goal in the 68th minute on a ball played to her by Viv Juncal.
    St. Mary's other goals were by Lilli Knudsen, off a Marybeth Barnum assist, and by McKenna Barnum, off a Juncal assist.
    Illinois Valley dropped to 4-6 and 1-4.
    CASCADE CHRISTIAN 4, ROGUE RIVER 1 — At Rogue River, Bailey Moody scored a goal for Rogue River, which trailed 2-1 at halftime.
    NORTH VALLEY 9, PHOENIX 0 — At Talent, Kerissa D'Arpino scored four goals and assisted on another as North Valley evened its Skyline record at 4-4. The Knights are 7-4-1 overall.
    Three of D'Arpino's goals came after halftime.
    The Knights also got a goal and an assist from Vanessa D'Arpino and goals from Alexis Scott, Autumn Diaz and Kylie McElheran.
    Phoenix is 1-11 and 0-8.
    HIDDEN VALLEY 1, KLAMATH UNION 0 — At Murphy, Emily Murphy knocked in the game-winning goal in the 76th minute to help Hidden Valley move into a tie for second place with Klamath Union in the Skyline Conference.
    Goalkeeper Morgan Hansen recorded the shutout against the Pelicans (7-3-2, 5-3 Skyline), and Kaelyn Trader and Alyssa Bird were strong defensively for the Mustangs (8-4, 5-3 Skyline).
    MAZAMA 3, HENLEY 1 — At Klamath Falls, Kylie Durant turned in two goals and an assist for Mazama in Skyline Conference action.
    Karena Foust scored and Hannah Reynolds and Tiffany Taylor each had assists for the Vikings (11-0-1, 8-0 Skyline).
    Natalie Delonge netted a goal for Henley (2-10, 2-6 Skyline).
