Our beloved father, Rodney H. Erickson, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 after battling cancer for over a year. He defied the limits placed on his life expectancy, fighting to remain with his family as long as he was able.

Rodney, the youngest of three sons, was born to Darlene and Ernest Erickson March 21, 1950, in Sioux Falls, S.D. After moving from South Dakota, Rodney spent his childhood growing up in Nebraska and California.

In 1977, he and his family moved to Eagle Point, Ore. from California after Rodney received his bachelor's degree in accounting from San Francisco State University. He established his business as a CPA in 1978 in Eagle Point. Throughout the years, he built strong and lasting relationships with the community, both through his career and through his involvement with community events. Rodney continued working as a local business owner until his retirement in June of 2012.

An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Rodney found his true home in Southern Oregon, embracing the lifestyle of country living and outdoor activities.

Rodney was a man who was loved not only by his family and friends, but also by many members of his community. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his much-admired beautiful and bright blue eyes.

Rodney is survived by three daughters, one son, and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Eagle Point.

In lieu of flowers, please send a charitable donation to St. Jude's Research Hospital to help increase the survival rate of children with cancer. There is a memorial fund set up in Rodney's name at www.stjude.com
