Medford investigators are hoping the people shown in a video outside Howiee's on Front the night a cab driver was murdered will lead to tips that could help solve the crime.
Police don't have a suspect and are appealing to eyewitnesses who might have seen Huson pick up a fare at Howiee's on Front at 10:40 p.m. Oct. 20. The fare was the last radio contact Huson had with Valley Cab before the company reported him missing at 1:02 a.m. Oct. 21.
Police are hoping for an eyewitness who might have seen the taxi in the Vilas Road area, or at a parking lot near Ninth and Almond streets where the cab was later found at 5:02 a.m.
The parking lot is just to the east of Interstate 5 between 10th and East Main streets.
The suspect shot and killed Valley Cab driver 58-year-old William Roy "Huey" Huson and left his body in a field off Helo Way.
The people shown in the video are not considered suspects, according to Medford police Chief Tim George.
Investigators simply want to speak to these people to see if they saw the suspected shooter that night as he entered Huson's cab.
Anyone who saw a suspect matching the description or has other information on the case is asked to telephone Medford police at 541-770-4783. Tips also can be submitted anonymously online at www.tipsubmit.com.
(Editor's note: The four people seen in the surveillance video contacted police, so investigators are no longer seeking to identify and talk to them. Therefore, the video and photos are no longer available at www.mailtribune.com.)
