    Ashland boys advance to state tourney

  • BEND — The Ashland boys edged Parkrose 11-10 in the district water polo tournament to gain a berth at state, while the Grizzly girls season came to an end with a 16-15 district overtime loss to Summit.

  • BEND — The Ashland boys edged Parkrose 11-10 in the district water polo tournament to gain a berth at state, while the Grizzly girls season came to an end with a 16-15 district overtime loss to Summit.
    The Ashland boys will play in the state tournament Friday and Saturday at Tualatin.
    Lewy Kurach scored six goals and had four steals to lead the Grizzlies against Parkrose. Ashland received two goals from Hoku Eggertsen and one goal apiece from Alex Sukles, Jericho Walker and Cole Harding.
    Ashland goalkeeper Miles Furuichi stopped 14 shots.
    In girls, Sadie Kasiah had a productive game with seven goals, five steals and one assist. Sabrina Scoggin added five goals and Maddy Longshore scored three times.
    Kaya Boehm had nine saves in net for the Grizzlies.
