Robert N. Bennett

Robert (Bob) Bennett (aka Dave-O) took the final train out of the station on Monday, October 29, 2012. He lived a life filled with laughter, generosity, courage and grace. You couldn't help but be awed by his unflappable strength and humor as he met the challenges life gave him during his last years.

Bob was a respected leader, but he would humbly joke that he did so because no one else wanted the job. He spent his final weeks in true Dave-O fashion, joking with hospice staff while bargaining with his wife, Paula, for one more swill.

Bob was a gentle spirit with a mischievous streak longer than a NASCAR race. He loved his family and his friends but never hesitated to prank any of them. No prank required too much planning or patience. If life knocked you down, he was right there to make sure the humiliation was shared by friends to help you laugh it off. He was a regular contributor to the world famous cul-de-sac.

Bob was born in Medford, Ore. July 24, 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 1970. Bob lived in Anchorage, Alaska from 1976-2009. He will be missed by many, especially his wife, Paula; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Jon Van Treeck; mother, Darlene Bennett; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jan Bennett.

In lieu of flowers his family asks that you make a donation to Legacy Hospice, 680 South Progress Avenue, Suite 2A, Meridian, ID 83642.
