Staff Sergeant James D. McNeil, 95, Grants Pass, Ore., passed away October 28, 2012, at his home. He was born January 15, 1917 to Arthur and Fannie McNeil in Akron, Ohio. He was married to Virginia May McNeil for 68 years and their anniversary was Valentines Day.
He was WWII B-17 machine gunner, flew 37 missions, and received the distinguished Flying Cross. Before the war he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp Boys - CCC Boys. He was a scout leader for 15 years and a little league coach for seven years. He was a production and quality controller for BF Goodrich Co. He valued his wife, children, and grandchildren very much.
James is survived by his son, James D. McNeil Jr. (Sara); grandsons, David McNeil (Jennifer), Jonathan McNeil, and Christopher McNeil; and great-granddaughter, Genevieve McNeil. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia McNeil and his daughter, Karen Morton.
A celebration of his 95½ years will be Saturday, November, 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Fountain Plaza, 1441 Morrow Rd., Medford, Oregon with Rabbi Jackie Brodsky officiating
