Raiders ready to put on show

SOU wrestlers to hold Red and Black intrasquad match tonight in Ashland

ASHLAND — Tonight is the 43rd annual Red and Black intrasquad between Southern Oregon University's wrestling veterans and the new members of the squad.

The Raiders feature three top-ranked wrestlers, including defending national champions Mitchell Lofstedt, a 125-pound senior from Roseburg, and Brock Gutches, the 174-pound native of Central Point.

Jimmy Eggemeyer, a senior, is ranked No. 1 at 149 pounds after finishing second last season.

The red squad will feature several state champions and some NCAA Divison I transfer students who look to break into SOU's lineup.

The duals start at 7 p.m. at Bob Riehm Arena.

The Raiders' first home dual meet of the season will be against No. 8 University of Great Falls on Nov. 16.

Cross Country

CCC TEAM OF THE WEEK — A fifth consecutive Cascade Collegiate Conference championship earned the top-ranked Southern Oregon University men's cross country team CCC team of the week honors.

The Raiders dominated the CCC Championship meet on Saturday, placing seven runners in the top 20 and winning the meet with 28 total points.

SOU tops the NAIA rankings in every poll released this season and is listed as the favorite to win its second national championship in three years going into the Nov. 17 NAIA national meet in Vancouver, Wash.
