John "Jack" Earl Marron, 90, of Medford, passed away peacefully at his home at Fountain Plaza November 6, 2012. Jack was born in Calamus, Iowa February 10, 1922, to Earl and Pauline Marron. On August 28, 1948, Jack married Mary Jane Ruess, who gave him 43 years of devotion and happiness before preceding him in death in 1992.
In 1964 the couple moved their family from Naperville, Ill. to Ventura, Calif., where Jack worked for the County of Ventura, retiring in 1977. Jack and Janie spent many hours playing golf and spending time with their children and grandchildren. In 2005, Jack moved with his daughter, Marisa, to Medford in order to be closer to his son, Jim, and his family.
Jack's children and grandchildren were the focus of his life. He especially enjoyed watching his son's softball games, as well as family backyard barbecues.
Jack is survived by son, Jim (Annalee) Marron, of Central Point; daughter, Marisa Marron, of Medford; grandchildren, Tonja Harris, of Albert Lea, Minn., Kristi (Gary) Holt, of Central Point, Karli (Daryl) Vierra, of Tempe, Ariz., and Kelsey O'Neill, of Vancouver, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dillon, Carter, and Wyatt. Survivors also include sister, Peggy Mullin, of Lake Forest, Ill.; sister-in-law, Geraldine Ruess, of West Liberty, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family extends sincere thanks to the staff at Fountain Plaza and Providence Hospice. A special thanks to Jack's caregiver, Cindy, who cared for Jack with compassion for five years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Jack's favorite charity, the Salvation Army.
