John Scott Humphrey passed away at home November 5, 2012, from lung cancer. He was born June 6, 1936, in Salem, Ore. and was raised there. In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Pat Gordon.

John played in a collegiate golf tournament at Rogue Valley Country Club and fell in love with its beauty. After graduation in 1958 from Oregon College of Education, he and Pat and six-month-old Jeff moved to Medford where John started his insurance career. He was immediately successful and was honored as Oregon's rookie of the year. As an insurance broker, John represented more than one life insurance company, and was a leading producer for several companies before retiring in 1996.

John loved to play golf and was a member at Rogue Valley Country Club and Palm Valley Country Club. When not playing golf, John enjoyed walking his dog, Bogie. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 103 and Hillah Shriners.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; son, Jeff and his wife, Susan and their three children; Aaron wife, Kim, Elizabeth, and Nathan; son, Michael, and his son, Brandon; son, Gordon, and his wife, Monica, and their three daughters, Stephanie, Rachel and Sarah; and daughter, Lori Humphrey.

A celebration of John's life will be held at Rogue Valley Country Club Sunday November 18, 2012, at 3:00. Golf attire is welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Oregon Humane Society, 2910 Table Rock Rd., Medford, OR 97504; or Portland Shriners Hospital, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

John was a beloved husband, father, and dear friend and will be deeply missed, but we know he had a positive impact on each of our lives and will live on in our hearts.
