Part of a project of international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan's Purse, the Medford effort will collect donations items from today, Nov. 12, through Monday, Nov. 19.
Donations may be dropped off at two local collection sites, the Community Bible Church, 500 N. 10th St., Central Point; or The Dove, 1236 Disk Drive, Suite E, Medford.
For hours and additional local collection sites, use the online ZIP code locator at www.samaritanspurse.org.
This year, Operation Christmas Child hopes to reach the milestone of delivering shoe boxes to more than 100 million children since 1993. During that time, the program has collected more than 94 million shoe box gifts and hand-delivered them to suffering children in more than 130 countries.
This year's goal is to collect another 9 million gift-filled shoe boxes.
