Red Tornado takes Pee Wee crown

EUGENE — The Medford Red Tornado Pop Warner Pee Wee football team rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Thurston 7-6 in the championship game on Sunday at Autzen Stadium.

The Red Tornado, which had two first-half touchdowns called back by penalties, finally cracked the scoring column with a touchdown with about six minutes remaining in the contest.

It was the first loss of the season for the Falcons, who scored their touchdown just before halftime but failed on their extra point attempt.

Also in Pee Wee Division play over the weekend, the Medford Panthers topped Sheldon 30-0 in a game.

In bowl play in the Mighty Mites Division (grades 2-3), the Medford Panthers picked up a 36-6 victory over Pleasant Hill and the Medford Junior Renegades grabbed a 14-0 triumph over Sheldon.
