  • The Talent Historical Society will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at 105 Market St., Talent.
    The event is open to the public.
    Leta Neiderheiser, author of a book about pioneer Jesse Applegate, will be the main speaker at the meeting. The Applegate family was a historic pioneer family in Southern Oregon. The southern route to Oregon, the Applegate Trail, was laid out by Applegate and Levi Scott The Applegate Valley was named after Lindsay Applegate, whose last residence was in Ashland.
    A short review of the activities of the Talent Historical Society for the past year also will be presented. Light refreshments will be provided, including grape juice made from fruit of the Watson grape stock that was brought to Oregon from Missouri in 1851.
