Talty helps Spartans to narrow win

Tim Talty scored the winning goal with eight seconds left in regulation as the Southern Oregon Spartans held off the Seattle Totems, 5-4, in amateur hockey at The RRRink on Friday.

The Spartans (7-7) were well in control after netting three goals in the second period and added another about six minutes into the third to take a 4-0 lead.

But the Totems (6-9-1) mounted a four-goal flurry of their own, capped by Zachary Zamora's score to tie the contest at 4-all with just under a minute to play.

Talty's game-winner, which was assisted by Anthony Golio and Avik Bordak, helped the Spartans avoid the extra session.

The other goals by the Spartans were scored by Nick Stirmel, Eligah Bordak, Robert Donovan and Drew Jarvis. All were assisted by Talty.

Seattle Totems 0 0 4 — 4

Southern Oregon Spartans 0 3 2 — 5
