  • In 2010 Bill moved to Medford from Huntington Beach, Calif. to marry Sharon Rutter, whom he had been in love with since he was 20 years old. He was happy to be with her and living in Medford, illness cut his happiness short.
Billy Frank Bellamy, 81, of Medford, Ore., passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at his home. He was born in Surgoinsville, Tenn. March 2, 1931.
Billy joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and retired with an honorable discharge after 21 years. He served on the USS Sicily, USS Belle Grove, and USS Dennis J. Buckley. He loved being in the Navy and was proud to serve. Shortly after retiring from the Navy Bill went to work for the University of California Irvine and retired after 20 years. Billy was a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, and lifetime Elk.
Bill is survived by his best friend and love of his life Sharon; his 108 year old mother-in-law, Mary R. Nimz, who lived with Sharon and Bill; brothers, Raymond Bellamy (Barbara), Donald Bellamy (Bernice), and Keith Bellamy, all of Rogersville, Tenn.; and Dennis Bellamy (Judy), of Surgoinsville, Tenn.; sister, Faye Bailey (Wayne), of Rogersville, Tenn.; stepchildren, Steven Froling, of Eugene, Ore.; and John Froling, James Froling, Charles O. Froling, all of Medford; sister-in-law, Phyllis Hill, of Grants Pass, Ore. A special thanks to his stepdaughter-in-law, Lisa and his grandson, Manhua Xie for their love and support in his care.
We were all blessed to have Bill in our lives and we miss him terribly.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Spears Bellamy; his brother, John; and former wife Wynell.
A military graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Chaplain Mark Dalton officiating. Arrangements by Conger Morris
