Spartans seal victory over Totems in shootout

SEATTLE — Southern Oregon goalie Sean Buckley blanked the Seattle Totems in a shootout as the Spartans amateur hockey team lassoed a 4-3 victory at the Civic Ice Arena on Friday.

The Totems' Petr Novak scored with 27 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the contest at 3-all and force overtime. After a scoreless extra period, Buckley stopped all four attempts by the Totems (6-10-1-1) in the shootout to seal the road victory for the Spartans (8-7).

Joe Bordak and Mike Kowicki, the Spartans' third and fourth shooters in the shootout, both scored.

Southern Oregon picked up one goal apiece from Dan Doyle, Cody Chiverton and Robert Donovan in regulation.
