SEATTLE — The Southern Oregon Spartans built an early three-goal lead and never looked back in their 5-1 victory over the Seattle Totems in Western States Hockey League action on Saturday.

SEATTLE — The Southern Oregon Spartans built an early three-goal lead and never looked back in their 5-1 victory over the Seattle Totems in Western States Hockey League action on Saturday.

Nick Stirmel and Tim Talty each recorded a goal and an assist and Avik Bordak and Robby Gervino added two assists apiece for the Spartans (9-7), who outshot the Totems (6-10-1-2) 45-43.

Dan Doyle, Ryan Devine and Joe Bordak also netted scores for Southern Oregon, which did not allow a goal until the third period.

Winning goalkeeper Sean Buckley made 42 saves.
