  • Lewis Hill, 96, of Medford, Ore. passed away November 21, 2012. He was born December 23, 1915, in Ellis County, Okla. to parents Richard H. and Eva M. Hill. On July 17, 1941, in Coldwater, Kan. he married Bessie Ruth Hadley, who preceded him in death.
    Bert served his county in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for completing 25 missions and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters for destroying enemy aircraft.
    Bert was employed in the lumber industry for 30 years. He enjoyed painting and writing and was a member of Talent Friends Church.
    He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Holt (Bob); son, W. Eugene (Sandy); three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Talent Friends Church. Pastor Syd Wyncoop will officiate. Flowers may be delivered to the church at 12:00 p.m. December 8, or a donation may be made in his name to the Friends Church.
