Police searching for bank robber in Medford

Law enforcement officers are combing the area near the Albertsons off North Phoenix Road after a masked man robbed the branch of the US Bank located inside the store.

Officers from the Medford Police Department and deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday and were still interviewing witnesses and searching the crime scene.

A canine unit from the Sheriff's Department was seen searching a neighborhood to the west of the store.

Police said that details were sketchy in the immediate aftermath of the robbery, during which an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the bank. Officers are reviewing video footage of the incident to attempt to gain more information.

The single robber was described as a caucasian male, approximately 6 feet tall and dressed all in black. A bandana-type mask covered his face. He apparently left the area on foot.

The store remained open, although one entrance nearest to the bank was closed off.
