SALEM — Eric Thompson scored 13 points, Terriel Thomas added 10 off the bench and 16th-ranked Southern Oregon dominated the boards in a 71-45 win over Corban in Cascade Conference men's basketball action Saturday at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
The victory gave the Raiders (8-3, 2-0 CCC) a road sweep to open league play a day after they needed overtime to turn back Northwest Christian in Eugene.
Terriel Thomas pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds as Southern Oregon outrebounded Corban 54-32. SOU guard Jeff Bush handed out a game-high four assists.
SOUTHERN OREGON 92, CORBAN 74 — At Salem, an 11-2 run midway through the first half gave Southern Oregon the lead for good and the Raiders pulled away from there for a resounding Cascade Collegiate Conference game at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
Saturday's win ended a seven-game losing streak to the defending conference champions for the Raiders (10-1, 2-0 CCC), who claimed their first win against Corban since the 2008-09 season.
Angelica Cahee led the way for the Raiders with 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting. Allison Gida posted a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and Alexi Smith added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Melissa Sweat finished with 18 points.
Emily Tsugawa tallied a game-high 25 points for the Warriors (3-7, 0-2), with Tess Bennett chipping in 15 and Tara VanWeerdhuizen adding 13.
Southern Oregon out-rebounded Corban 52-33, and shot 52 percent from the floor (36 of 69).
