Leoma “Lee” Sanchez

Leoma Lee Sanchez

 

Leoma Lee Sanchez, 84, of New Ulm, Minn. passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Leoma Grace Duff, the daughter of Harry and Odessa (Craven) Duff, was born July 26, 1928, in Bemidji, Minn. On July 19, 1955, Lee was united in marriage to Victor Sanchez in Westwood, Calif. She had worked as a welder in a ship yard in Portland, Ore. during WWII. Leoma ran a day care business out of her home for many years but her love in life was being a housewife and mother. While married she and Victor lived in various places around the country, and in 1984, after the death of her husband, she moved back to New Ulm, living here the rest of her life. Lee was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church and the VFW auxiliary.

 

Leoma is survived by her children, Gayla (Tony) Robles, of Crest, Calif., Alberto Sanchez, of Wanache, Wash., Kim (Delmy) Sanchez, of Oceanside, Calif., Rodney (Karen) Sanchez, of New Ulm, and Tracy Sanchez (Carmen Hennessey), of Glencoe, Minn; grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh, Andrew, Ariel, Aurora, Brian, Victoria, Danny, Stephen, Julian, Isabell, Nicholas, Seryne, Hollie, Dereck, Cory, Brandon, Bethany, Dustin, Moira, Heidi, and Heather; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Doris Duff, of Klamath Falls, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; daughter, Marialena Bunny; and son, Victor Vicky. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.


Funeral service was held Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Klamath Falls, Ore.
