  • Walmart and The Salvation Army team up to help provide new toys and coats to local children at Christmas.
The "Fill the Truck" Toy and Coat Drive will be hosted at the Medford and Eagle Point Walmart stores, along with more than 2,500 other Walmart stores across the country. The local event will go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
The public is invited to donate new toys and coats to needy children whose families are registered for The Salvation Army Christmas Assistance Program. When shoppers arrive at Walmart, they will receive a list of suggested gifts to help "Fill the Truck" at the store.
Gifts will be distributed to local children in need on Dec. 19 and 20. The event is expected to provide gifts to more than 1,000 children.
