  • SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Michael Carter-Williams had 11 points and 11 assists, freshman Jerami Grant had a season-high 11 points and two blocks, and No. 4 Syracuse beat Eastern Michigan 84-48 on Monday night.
    Syracuse (6-0) has won 48 straight nonconference games and boosted its home winning streak to 26 games.
    Eastern Michigan (5-2) and the Orange had met just twice before, the last time also an 84-48 Syracuse victory a year ago in the Carrier Dome. EMU coach Rob Murphy spent seven seasons as an assistant coach under Jim Boeheim at Syracuse before taking the job with the Eagles two years ago.

    At San Diego, Jamaal Franklin had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Chase Tapley scored 16 points to lead San Diego State.
    DeShawn Stephens added 13 points and Dwayne Polee had 10 for the Aztecs (6-1), who won their sixth straight game since losing the season opener to Syracuse.
    It was Franklin's fourth double-double this season. He made the Aztecs' final two baskets, including a reverse slam on an alley-oop, both passes from Tapley.
    Texas Southern (1-7) was coming off an 85-80 double-overtime loss at then-No. 19 Colorado on Wednesday. Omar Strong had 15 points against the Aztecs. Fred Sturdivant added 14 points.
