A 22-year-old Medford man was arrested early Wednesday for allegedly crashing his car into a curb and running from police, attempting to discard an unknown amount of cash while he ran.
Police first caught sight of Martin Derbigny at around 2 a.m. as he drove west on 10th Street. It looked like he was speeding in the 25 mph zone, and an officer leaving the jail gave chase, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said. The officer reached speeds of 45 mph during the chase.
Derbigny eventually crashed his car near the intersection of Fourth and Rose streets, and ran from the vehicle. At some point along the way, he tried to abandon a "substantial" amount of cash, Budreau said. Police eventually caught and arrested Derbigny at a home in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
