Greystone Court shares the light

The 13th annual Greystone Court Holiday Light Food Drive returns to Medford Dec. 21

The cul de sac off North Phoenix Road in east Medford is known for elaborate Christmas light designs.

From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 21 through Dec. 24, residents will collect donations of non-perishable food items and cash donations for ACCESS to help feed hungry children, families, and seniors in Jackson County. Santa Claus will hand out candy canes to children each night.

More than 4,000 cars are expected to drive through the during the five-day holiday drive.

The Kimmel Family Foundation, a longtime ACCESS supporter, will match monetary donations during the food drive so every dollar donated will become $2. Every dollar can provide approximately five meals for hungry families. In 2011, ACCESS distributed emergency food boxes to 112,697 individuals in Jackson County, an 11 percent increase over the previous year.

Foods rich in protein are especially needed, including peanut butter, canned tuna, canned meat and beans. Donations of any non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta, cold and hot cereals will also be accepted.

ACCESS also accepts secure donations online at Click the "Donate Now" button and enter "Greystone" in the dedication field labeled "on behalf of."
