Polaris invests in gear company

Polaris Industries Inc., which was part of a second-round of venture capital infusing Ashland electric motorcycle maker Brammo Inc., with $28 million in October 2011, has purchased Teton Outfitters, a privately owned Rigby, Idaho company.

Teton Outfitters designs, develops and distributes KLIM Technical Riding Gear. Calendar 2012 sales for KLIM are expected to approach $30

million. The latest acquisition adds to the Medina, Minn., company's growing parts, garments and accessories business.

According to SEC filings, Polaris's October 2011 investment in Brammo was $5 million, followed by $7 million in July of this year.

Brammo has production facility agreements in Europe and Asia and is in the process of expanding into Talent, where it will build its Enertia models.
