Church of Nazarene plans 'Rockin' Royal Christmas'

The First Church of the Nazarene will present a performance by Kids of the Kingdom entitled "A Rockin' Royal Christmas" at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, and 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at 1974 E. McAndrews Road.

Temple Emek Shalom plans Hanukkah celebration

The community Hanukkah celebration at Temple Emek Shalom will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1800 E. Main St., Ashland. The event will include storytelling, music and candlelighting.

Children are encouraged to wear pajamas for the temple's pajama Havdalah.

Attendees are encouraged to bring latkes, a dairy or vegetarian dish to share, and a menorah and candles for first-night lighting. Call 541-488-2909.


First Presbyterian Church of Ashland plans Advent Faire

First Presbyterian Church of Ashland will hold its annual Advent Faire following the church's 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the church, located at the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Walker Avenue.

The event will include craftmaking, such as wreaths, centerpieces, candles and ornaments. Cost to make each item is a suggested donation of $1 for adults. A pass allowing participants to make one of everything will be available for $5 for kids or $10 for adults. The event will also include a Christmas rummage sale. Call 541-708-3720.


Advent lesson of 'Peace'to be given at Christ Unity

The Rev. Shepherd of the Valley plans groundbreaking

Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church will hold a groundbreaking for its new church at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at 600 Beebe Road, Central Point. The Revs. Mike Walker and Justus Alaeto will be present, along with members of the English and Spanish-speaking parishes.

Chabad Jewish Center schedules Hanukkah ritual

Havurah will have its annual Hanukkah Faire on Sunday

The Havurah's annual Hanukkah Faire will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at 185 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Events will include crafts for children, Hanukkah cookie-decorating, beeswax candle-rolling, Menorah making and hot latkes for sale.

At 6 p.m. attendees will gather for communal candle-lighting and songs led by Rabbi David Zaslow and Andrea Shupack, and storytelling by Devorah Zaslow.

Chabad Jewish Center plans Hanukkah event for seniors

Chabad Jewish Center will host a Hanukkah celebration for Rogue Valley seniors at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Mountain View Retirement Center, 548 N. Main St., Ashland.
