  • The driver in an early-morning car crash is in jail and his two passengers were injured, officials said.
Jackson County Sheriff's Department responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Eagle Mill and Butler Creek roads this morning. At 1:37 a.m., a deputy arrived to find a blue 2004 Toyota Solara had struck a pole and two people had been thrown from the car, the sheriff's department said in a news release today.
The driver, whom officers identified as Ryan Andrew Posada, 26, of Ashland, had left the scene and was found at Eagle Mill Road and South Valley View Road, the sheriff's department said.
Investigators said he exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, two counts of reckless endangering, reckless driving, hit and run, and third-degree assault, the news release said. After being checked by a doctor, he was lodged at the Jackson County Jail, where he remains this afternoon on $50,000 bail.
The backseat passenger Daniel Johnson, 26, of Medford was transported to Providence Medford Medical Center, with what police described as "extensive injuries." He was treated and released, hospital officials said.
The front seat passenger, Alisha Frazier, 24, of Medford, had minor injuries and also was treated and released at Providence, officials said.
