The search continues for a man who disappeared Thursday after leaving a note for his family saying that he was going to the Hellgate Overlook in Josephine County.
Oregon State Police and Josephine County sheriff's deputies spent the previous two days searching for 52-year-old Conrad Jordan.
Jordan's car was found that the Hellgate Overlook, but there was no sign of him, OSP said in a news release. The Grants Pass Daily Courier said that Jordan is from Grants Pass.
Crews from several nearby police and sheriff's departments searched the rocky face of the Hellgate Overlook, while members of a canine team searched the surrounding area, with no success.
The search was suspended at one point because of darkness and the difficult terrain, OSP said.
The Hellgate Overlook sits high on the cliffs above Hellgate Canyon northwest of Grants Pass.
According to the Bureau of Land Management website, the overlook is popular for wildlife viewing and offers amazing views of the Rogue River, Hellgate Canyon and Hellgate Bridge.
BLM warns that it is dangerous to explore the cliffs beyond the rock walls in the parking area.
