The mysterious disappearance of 87-year-old Truman Tollefson of Medford has stretched into a fourth day.

Medford Police received reports of possible sightings Thursday and Friday, but Tollefson's last confirmed location was at Wells Fargo Bank, 1320 E. McAndrews Road at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday.

Tollefson had told his family he intended to go to Safeway in the Medford Center after going to the bank, but police detectives are unsure whether he ever arrived at the shopping center about four blocks away.

Patrol Sgt. Kerry Curtis said today that police had received reports that Tollefson may have been seen at 1:50 p.m. Thursday at the Albertsons gas station on West Main Street and about 2 p.m. at Best Buy in Medford on Friday.

Tollefson's family reported that he has been suffering from memory issues. With temperatures falling into the low 30s at night, police said there was growing concern. He was driving a heavily oxidized, silver 1981 Buick Century 4-door sedan.

Police released two photographs of Tollefson taken Wednesday by a surveillance camera at the Wells Fargo Bank automatic teller machine.

Tollefson is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 135 pounds and is balding. He was last seen wearing a tan coat, black jeans, white tennis shoes and eyeglasses.

"Without people sending us tips, we might drive through an intersection and he could drive right behind us," said Curtis. "At this point, we would encourage people (with information) to call 9-1-1, that way we can get to him as quickly as possible."

Anyone with information can also call Medford police at 541-774-2200.
