A bus pass and a steady job will bring a smile to this single dad. And some clothes and movie tickets would brighten the lives of his three kids.
Staff members at the Phoenix-Talent School District are asking whether some community Santas can bring this struggling family some much-needed holiday cheer.
A longtime Rogue Valley resident, dad has been having trouble finding steady employment and keeping up with bills in the current economy.
To make matters more difficult, the single father's three kids are having a hard time, too.
With mom out of the picture and extended family living on the Oregon Coast, dad is getting little support, especially now that his unemployment benefits have run out, Phoenix staffers say.
The family's electric bill is overdue and scheduled for shut-off on Dec. 16, they say.
The oldest son, a senior at Phoenix High School, is autistic. The 18-year-old needs extra-large shirts, size 12 shoes and size 36 pants.
The middle child is struggling in middle school. His difficulties have caused extra stress in the family, staff members say.
This boy could use size 16 boys pants and large boys shirts and size 71/2; shoes to keep him warm this winter.
The youngest child, a girl, wears medium tops, size 7 junior pants and size 9 shoes. She could use new clothes as well.
"Socks for all the kids would be great," staffers say.
Movie tickets for kids for Christmas vacation entertainment would be a treat this family hasn't had in awhile, they say.
As for dad, he'd like a bus pass so he can look for work, as he has no car, staff members say.
